It is my eye. I spent about an hour burning holes into my retina trying to get a decent shot with my eye mostly in the frame. I think I'll stick to working with other people's eyes... :)
I should have mentioned that when I'm using the little point and shoot, I hold it with one hand, the flashlight with the other, and have a mirror I'm looking into. I use the mirror to see the preview on the back of the camera in order to compose the shot. Once it's composed, I look whichever direction I want my eye to face in the photo.
Also: I feel the pain of retina burning. I felt almost sick afterwards.

V. Cool. Is it your eye? Even with the focus on the lashes and not the iris, the color makes the iris pop. Awesome.
