Well, this one especially pops because I made my skin black and white and left my iris in color. I also bumped up the vibrance and saturated it a tiny bit. Also upped the contrast and darkened the shadows.
In general: MACRO it (I use my canon powershot). It can be about a centimeter away in macro or digital macro mode. People say that at that distance (closeness) it works better than a macro lens, which I am without anyway.
I also took about 50 eye pictures. Even though this one is creepily open wide, that worked well for crazy and inspired me to desaturate the non-iris part of the photo. Oh: and there's a flashlight pointed at my eye.
